Donald Strachan
Donald cut his teeth at the legendary Bruce’s Records in the early 1970s, immersed in vinyl culture at a time when music discovery meant conversation, curiosity and crate-digging. He later spent much of his professional life teaching in Scotland, but music was never far from reach.
Retirement brought a return to the airwaves. Donald joined Generate Radio in the Scottish Borders — twice nominated for Scottish New Music Awards Radio Station of the Year — where he himself received a nomination for Media Person of the Year.
A passionate advocate for the overlooked and unsigned, Donald has continued broadcasting across the Borders, including live programming with TD1 Radio in Galashiels.
Broadcasting from the south-east edge of Scotland, where the Tweed meets the North Sea, Views From The Edge delivers unrestricted playlists, thoughtful commentary, and a steadfast commitment to social justice — intelligent, independent radio with perspective.

Donald Strachan presents the following shows…….
An immersive late-night journey where genres blur and discovery leads the way. Donald Strachan curates atmospheric soundscapes, independent voices and timeless classics into a seamless musical narrative — thoughtful, unexpected, and never predictable.
