Welcome to Runrig - The Road Continues

Runrig – The Road Continues is TD1 Radio’s heartfelt tribute to one of Scotland’s greatest bands. Celebrating the music, the memories and the legacy, this show keeps the spirit of Runrig alive — from the early Skye days to the final bow at Stirling. The journey may have paused, but the road? It most definitely continues.

From the windswept shores of Skye to the global stage, Runrig carved a soundtrack to a nation’s soul. Songs of language, land, love and loss carried far beyond the Highlands — uniting generations in fields, castles and arenas.

Runrig – The Road Continues honours that legacy. From the powerful voice of Donnie Munro in the early years to the emotional resonance of Bruce Guthro in the later era, this is the full story — told through the music that shaped a movement.

These are songs that still echo. Anthems that still rise. A journey that still inspires.

The Legacy of Runrig

Karin first became friends with Scottish supergroup Runrig in 1990. She worked with their original lead singer, Donnie Munro, when he embarked on a solo career, and she was a dance caller with Ceilidh Band, The Occasionals, that also included Runrig’s lead guitarist Malcolm Jones.

When Runrig officially retired in 2018 Karin was given the opportunity to sell their merchandise online and, through that, she met many of their fans.  Those same fans were great supporters of The Sunday Getherin’ and so it was decided to give them a show of their own.

Listeners request Runrig or Runrig-related songs each week.  Mike Kneeshaw is in charge of the social media and keeps it all running smoothly.

Expect iconic anthems, Gaelic treasures, live performances that lifted stadiums, and those album tracks only true fans know by heart. From Loch Lomond to the deeper cuts that defined eras, every show is a reminder that Runrig’s message — of community, heritage and hope — remains as powerful as ever.
