Steve Clarke

Steve Clarke grew up in Wimbledon but has proudly called Scotland home for more than twenty years — and it’s here that his long-running musical adventure, Strange Brew, truly took shape.

What began as a light-hearted hobby on Cuillin FM (now Radio Skye) gradually became something much more distinctive. For over 15 years, Steve has been crafting a programme that lives up to its name: Strange Brew by name, Strange Brew by nature.

Ever so slightly (and deliberately) pompous in its mission, the Brew is gloriously genre-fluid. While there’s often a rich seam of singer-songwriter brilliance running through the show — Scottish, English, British, American, Canadian — that’s merely the starting point. Gaelic, Scots, Irish, Norwegian, French, Spanish… if it’s good, it’s welcome.

Steve’s musical compass wanders confidently: traditional folk one week, pure blues the next. A nostalgic drift back to the 1960s might sit comfortably beside freshly released 2026 discoveries. There are no rigid rules. Sometimes the Brew simply rocks — with a vengeance.

Steve Clarke presents......

Genre-fluid, era-defying radio. Strange Brew wanders from 60s classics to fresh 2026 talent, across languages and styles. Expect the unexpected on TD1 Radio.
